Multi Focus Acoustic Field Generation Using Dammann Gratings for Phased Array Transducers

Generating multiple focal points with phased array transducers typically requires complex optimization algorithms. This study demonstrates that Dammann gratings — binary phase gratings from optics that produce equal-intensity spot arrays — can be adapted for acoustics. By assigning 0 or π phases to transducer elements based on a Dammann grating pattern, multiple equal-strength focal points are generated without iterative computation.
